What To Expect From Your Initial Office Consultation
You are expected to arrive a few minutes early to fill out paperwork prior to visiting with the doctor. If you have undergone prior evaluation and testing, bring your medical records. Please bring all of your semen analysis, labs, and culture results. This will help to expedite your care and avoid repeat testing.

For those patients who are being seen for a prostate problem, arrive with a full bladder in order to perform a uroflowmetry (the patient voids into a funnel attached to a computer that records the maximum flow rate, average flow rate, and voided volume) and post-void residual (a small ultrasound is used to determine the amount of urine that remains in the bladder after voiding). I take a very thorough history in order to determine the cause of your problem. Your complete medical history is important. This is followed by a thorough physical exam (a complete physical is done so that nothing is missed). The initial consultation usually takes anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes.

I encourage patients seen for infertility to bring their spouse/partner to the consult, as this is a couple's issue. I will discuss your spouse/partner’s history to determine if it is relevant. Bring all the records from your spouse/partner's doctor. It is critical to work with other doctors as a team to help in the quest for conception. If your spouse/partner does not have a doctor, we will find one for them.

Disclaimer
No patient is effectively evaluated and treated by a computer, and it is therefore impossible to tell you how to proceed without ever seeing or meeting you.
